Accessibility statement

Hobby-Wohnwagenwerk GmbH is committed to ensuring its digital services are accessible in accordance with the requirements of the German Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG). The basis for these measures is the technical standard EN 301 549 in conjunction with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 – Conformance Level AA. We regularly review our website with regard to accessibility and update this statement as required.

This accessibility statement applies to the website shop.hobby-caravan.de.

Compliance status

At present, the website only partially meets the requirements of EN 301 549 (and WCAG 2.1 – Level AA) .

Accessibility limitations

The following content is not yet completely accessible:

  • Alt attributes (images): On some pages of our website, images are published without alternative text (ALT attributes). This means users with screen readers or other assistive technologies do not receive a description of the image content, making the site harder to use or leaving certain information inaccessible. This issue stems from the manual maintenance of older content.

Planned measures: The affected images are being gradually revised and provided with appropriate alternative text. New content is already being created to meet the required accessibility standards.
  • Home page animation / Home page carousel: An animated loop plays automatically on the Hobby Shop home page. This animation starts as soon as the page loads and currently cannot be paused or stopped. This may affect users, particularly those with cognitive impairments, problems with concentration, or epilepsy. The lack of control over this animation constitutes a breach of the requirements for providing accessible content.

Contrast issues: In some cases, there is also insufficient contrast between white text and the background animations or graphics on the home page. This can significantly reduce legibility, especially for people with visual impairments or in poor lighting conditions.

Planned measures: For future versions of our website, we plan to give users the option to control the home page animation, allowing them to pause or disable it entirely. Furthermore, colour and contrast ratios in the animation area will be revised to ensure text legibility in accordance with accessibility requirements (in particular WCAG 2.1, minimum contrast ratio 4.5:1).
  • Incomplete semantic structure (Heading hierarchy): On various pages of our website, the heading structure does not comply with the requirements for proper semantic markup. For example, in some cases, a h1 heading is followed directly by a h3 without a h2 in between. This can prevent users of screen readers or other assistive technologies from correctly understanding the page structure.

Planned measure: The affected pages will be revised in stages. The aim is to establish a heading hierarchy with a logical structure and universally correct markup to improve orientation and usability for all user groups.
  • Fine typeface (Typography): A very fine typeface is used on various pages of our website. This can be difficult to read, particularly in low-contrast conditions or on mobile devices. Users with visual impairments or reading difficulties may therefore find it hard to perceive or correctly interpret content in certain circumstances.

Planned measure: The affected pages will be revised in stages. The aim is to establish a heading hierarchy with a logical structure and universally correct markup to improve orientation and usability for all user groups.
  • Insufficient keyboard accessibility: At present, it is not possible to fully access all areas of our website using a keyboard alone. Some interactive features are either inaccessible or will not function, making navigation difficult for users without a mouse.

Planned measure: Keyboard navigation will be completely revised to ensure that all website features can be used with a keyboard. Accordingly, new components will be developed to be accessible.
  • Missing focus state (Keyboard navigation): There is no visible focus state in many areas of our website. This means that it is not obvious which element is currently active when navigating with a keyboard. This can make navigation significantly more difficult, especially for users with motor impairments or those who do not use a mouse.

Planned measure: The focus states of interactive elements will be systematically added or improved. New components will be provided with visible focus indicators as standard.
  • Text within graphics: Text is embedded within graphics (e.g. in limited-time offers) on some pages. This cannot be detected or read aloud by screen readers. In addition, such text often cannot be scaled, which limits accessibility.

Planned measure: Graphics containing embedded text will gradually be replaced with accessible alternatives. Where this is not possible, corresponding alternative text descriptions will be provided.

We are working to remove existing barriers as quickly as possible.
